Catch Up!!

Well, I can't make up for lost time, so I will do a quick recap and try to post pictures of last fall, winter, and spring to catch you up.

Fall: Of course most of our weekends were spent at football and soccer fields. Maddox enjoyed his first season of soccer playing for the purple pirates...a fun time was had by all. We cheered on the blue devils to a few wins. And we even made it up to DC for a KC Chiefs game, in the freezing cold. Fred and Karylnn came out for Thanksgiving and I treated us all to a wonderful feast.

Winter: We finally all made it back to KS for Christmas (Evin was stuck in NYC due to snow, but finally made it). We celebrated first in Sublette and then on to Claflin. It was great to see everyone back home. Once we got back to NC, it was time for Maddox's birthday. He enjoyed a party at Marbles museum with all of his friends! Erica and Sheila also made a visit out to NC in January; it was great spending time with them and they even got to see a Duke win!

Spring: Spring is a time for change, which was definitely true for our family this year. Evin accepted a job at Ole Miss, so we packed up and moved down south. When it came time to leave, I think we realized how much we had grown to love Durham. We are now getting settled in Oxford, MS. Evin is enjoying his new job, and I am currently job hunting. Maddox and I are loving our time together, meeting new friends, going to the library, and playing at the park. We are currently in a furnished condo, but just signed on building a new house! We are excited to watch the transformation begin. (keep updated at http://www.leggittconstruction.com/windsor/NewOwnersPage.htm)

If You're Going to San Francisco!

Here is a separate slideshow from our trip to Modesto and San Francisco. What a great trip! We got to see where Allison lived in Modesto, Pebble Beach, and all the great sights in San Francisco (a great and very unique place to visit).

Summer Recap

We're Back!!!

We had a great summer, but as always, it wasn't long enough!
Maddox is continuing the change every day, we cannot believe how much he has grown this past year.

We took a number of great trips this summer, including; Atlanta, the Outer Banks, San Francisco, and a quick trip to Kansas in July. Other than the trips, we spent a lot of time outdoors enjoying the weather, swimming, playing baseball and going to baseball games.

The summer went really fast, and we are back in the swing of things this fall. Maddox is at the same school but has moved up a class, Kayla is still teaching with Durham Public Schools but is at a new school (Forest View), and Evin is still working with Duke Athletics.

We are enjoying our time here in Durham, and looking forward to another great year! Here are a bunch of pictures from our summer vacation.

Memorial Day Weekend

Over Memorial Day weekend, we headed down to Atlanta. It was about a 6 hour drive, which we realize is about the max for Maddox (and Evin and Kayla). In Atlanta we visited the world of Coca Cola (Kayla even let Maddox sample some of the 60+ soda varieties made by Coke from around the world). We also went to the Georgia Aquarium, where Maddox enjoyed seeing all the different marine life. It just so happened that the Braves were playing in town, so we also made it to a baseball game. They played the Blue Jays and won 4-3 in an exciting game! The weather was nice with just a few raindrops. Overall, it was a great trip!

On Monday, we concluded our Memorial Day weekend with a nice day at home, catching up on some sleep, grilling, and playing outside before beginning another week. Evin and Maddox went and bought fishing pools, and practiced casting in the back yard. Being the experienced fishermen that they are, it will be very interesting to see how this whole fishing experiment turns out...........We'll keep you posted.

Below are the photos from our trip to Atlanta. Click on the slide show to view them individually and to view the full screen slide show.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Spring Time!

Sorry it has been so long since our last post. We have vowed to do a better job keeping up with our blog...........

Springtime: We started spring with a trip to Asheville, NC over the Easter holiday. While there, we spent our time in its unique downtown area. We also spent a week in Kansas at the end of April. We visited Kansas City, Claflin, and Wichita, where Evin’s mom had heart surgery. She is recovering well and we are glad we were there to support her through it. Kayla had her dreams come true on mother’s day: she was wished a happy mother’s day by Oprah Winfrey. We attended Duke’s graduation where we saw and listed to her give the graduation address.

Beck Christmas Vacation

Happy Holidays! Sorry for the delay in getting our pictures posted on the blog, but it has taken us a couple of weeks to get into the swing of things after the long holiday break (and I don't know if we are quite there yet).

We had a great trip to Kansas. We had the chance to see a lot of people and had a really great time. It was an awesome Christmas and we really enjoyed the time we spent with family and friends!

We also had a great New Year back here in Durham. Although we did not do anything real exciting, we did at least make it until midnight.

Let us be the last to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
